Welcome!

Native bees are fascinating and beautiful creatures (at least to this researcher), but they don't get as much attention as honey bees.  Honey bees are not native to this country, they were brought over with the first settlers and have moved their way across the country and are now so common that most people don't know that they didn't use to be here.  Many are kept in managed hives, but some have gone "rogue" and now live in feral colonies.  This website will focus on North East Florida's native bees and will attempt to provide accurate information that can be utilized by a variety of audiences.  If you have questions or comments about the site, please feel free to fill out the "Contact Me" form.
